New Legal Briefs Video Series Covers Team Names in First Episode

Introducing our new video series, "Legal Briefs," starring (cartoon versions of) Illinois REALTORS® General Counsel and Vice President of Legal Services Betsy Urbance and Associate General Counsel Jeff Baker. The short videos will touch on important legal issues in the industry. Episode 1, online now, looks at the issues that arise when forming broker teams under the umbrella of sponsoring brokerage, including when to register as an assumed name, advertising requirements and how license law affects all of it. 

IDFPR Moves to Paperless Policy for Real Estate Professions

The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation has set Oct. 1 as a deadline for the agency's full migration to a paperless license management platform. New real estate licensees and those renewing licenses will need to use the IDFPR online portal after Oct. 1. 

Vote For Persin and LaFargue in Good Neighbor Web Choice Contest

Your online vote can help Illinois REALTORS® Jack Persin, of Naperville, and Michael LaFargue, of Chicago, win additional grant money for the local nonprofit organizations they support. Both have been named 2018 NAR Good Neighbor finalists for their volunteer work in their communities. Additional Web Choice Awards will earn three finalists with the most online votes more money for their charities. Vote for Persin and LaFargue through Sept. 28.


Fair Housing Event to be Held Oct. 24 at Illinois REALTORS®' Plaza

Illinois REALTORS® Plaza will host a Fair Housing event from 1-4 p.m. Oct. 24, 2018 in conjunction with the Illinois Department of Human Rights and co-sponsored by the Capital Area REALTORS®. Legal Issues – A Guide to Reasonable Accommodations is a 3-hour Core B CE course which provides guidance and clarification on the accommodations that must be made in housing for persons with disabilities and their families. In honor of the Illinois Bicentennial and the 50th anniversary of the Federal Fair Housing Act, this event will include a tour of the new Illinois REALTORS® Bicentennial Plaza. Register online.
